Some people seem to try to minmax things they don't even understand yet. If one was the type to wiki/youtube every available option on the first go, why even bother playing a game that isn't on rails or holds hands? Somewhere along the line, this past decade, gamers seem to have lost their sense of exploration. It doesn't even matter for someone who wants to take a specific path because they'll already know what path they're taking. It's better for playing through a subsequent time after an extremely long hiatus. It's better for the first time experience the way it is. No matter what way you go through the skill tree you'll end up at the same point in the end. The bottom line is that it isn't poor design. Thus, the skills would not need to be revealed regardless. ![]() However, those specific paths would only be known to a player who's exhausted the skill tree and is playing for a second, or greater, time.įurthermore, if you are going through the motions again, and have a specific path in mind, I'd imagine one would also be motivated enough to already have it planned out in its entirety. Sure, some choices may lead to faster progression of xp, or money, or item tiers, etc. ![]() It also lets you focus on the task(s) at hand, instead of worrying about making a 'wrong' choice or feeling forced to make choices in order to reach particular skills later on.ĭo note that there are no wrong ways to develop your skill tree. It keeps initial engagement positive, without overwhelming the player. ![]() The choice to not reveal the entire skill tree is great! People make decisions much faster when there are less options to choose from.
